INFORMATION FOR CVCS PARENTS

NEW: Have you been helping out at CVCS? Help us to show how important our volunteers' time is to the success of our school by keeping track on this simple form, which can be turned in to the office next time you come by. Thank you!

On this Web site you will find information that is both practical and important to your understanding of school operations and activities. This includes the handbook; calendars; general information about school hours etc.; school policies; teachers; Governing Council meeting information; and much more. In addition to the general categories shown down the left-hand side of most pages, there are direct links to frequently-used information from the Quick Links above. Please use our Web site to help you find what you need. Suggestions for improvement are always welcome!

Parent involvement is crucial to the academic success of our children and our school, and is one of the founding principles of Cottonwood Valley Charter School. You can express your interest in volunteering at the school by filling out our Volunteer Opportunities form and returning it to the CVCS office. There are many ways that parents can help out, most of which require very little time and effort. For example:

  • Show support for CVCS and your child by participating in school events. If you can, please help out by bringing food or drinks, joining in the setup and/or cleanup, or co-ordinating activities.
  • Talk to your child's teacher about how he/she could use your help.
  • Come to our monthly Parent Association meetings to learn more about school activities and provide your input to the administration. Parent Association information is kept on this Web site.
  • CVCS fundraising does not involve sending students door-to-door selling things. This makes alternative fundraising more important. There are several easy ways to raise money for CVCS that do not cost you anything; for information, please see the Fundraising Committee page. Over the years, these programs have brought thousands of dollars to CVCS. If you wish to make a donation directly to CVCS, you may either contact the office or complete the donation form and return it to the school.

If you'd like to have a more direct impact on how the school is run, sign up for one of the school committees. These are essential to its successful operation, and you will generally be able to find a vacancy. Or, run for membership on the Governing Council.

For more ideas, or to make suggestions, please contact either the school staff or a Governing Council member.
