Spanish program:
One of the objectives of the Cottonwood Valley is to create a Spanish
program that will produce bi-lingual children. For this first year,
Cottonwood Valley is pleased to invite Maria Sandra Daruich Gomez
to initiate the Spanish program.Ms. Gomez, who hails from Argentina,
has a rich background in drama and teaching. She utilizes her drama
in her approach to teaching Spanish.
The goal of her program is to promote familiarity with and confidence
in the Spanish language by providing a supportive environment where
students are encouraged to openly participate without fear of ridicule.
The program uses play-acting and songs to explore Spanish, which
is effective for long-term retention. The lessons focus on basic
and essential vocabulary through repeated exposure in a meaningful
context, mastering simple nouns, then developing greater abstraction
and expression.
