CVCS is required to carry out the New Mexico Standards-Based Assessment (NMSBA) each spring in grades 3-8, which is used to measure Adequate Yearly Progress in accordance with the federal "No Child Left Behind" Act of 2001.

The results of these tests are generally available the following September, and allow us to see how CVCS is performing relative to other schools locally and state-wide. Since these tests are specific to New Mexico and are not aligned with other states' tests, we usually also administer the Stanford 9 Achievement Test (SAT-9) to all grades. This gives us national comparisons, providing a broader perspective.

Test results for individual students are provided to parents once they become available. Where possible, reports on overall scores will be posted here. School and district information is also available on the New Mexico Public Education Department Web site. (Please note that PED does not include results for sub-groups with fewer than 10 students in the school taking the test.)
