Thank you for your interest in Cottonwood Valley Charter School. We are looking for individuals who will help us build a unique public school where parents, students and teachers all participate in the education process. Skill mastery and unit themes will form the basis of the academic program. Each child will be evaluated and given a Personal Education Plan (PEP). The plan will be developed by the parents, teachers, administrator and other relevant individuals. The curriculum will incorporate the Core Knowledge Sequence. Teachers will be expected to complete school-sponsored training covering the Core Knowledge Sequence and will be expected to use the associated materials accordingly. All personnel need to be committed to our goals and be willing to help us create a learning environment which fosters achievement of those goals. Socorro is a small town of approximately 10,000 people located in the central portion of New Mexico. The town is located off Interstate 25 about one hour south of Albuquerque. Socorro is a friendly community with many outdoor opportunities including hiking, biking, bird watching, camping and hunting. Businesses include the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology, National Radio Astronomy Observatory, Energetic Materials Research and Testing Center, Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Mines, smaller businesses and local farming.
