Our team of dedicated teachers, eager students, and committed parents is seeking an experienced administrator to start in the 2007-2008 academic year.

Our K-8 charter school in Socorro, New Mexico is currently in its sixth year of operation, with a healthy financial situation and full enrollment. Cottonwood provides a rigorous alternative to local public schools, using the Core Knowledge curriculum of Professor E.D. Hirsch. In addition, we offer small classes (15-20) and individualized instruction. We offer gifted and special education services. We use Saxon Mathematics, 4-Block reading and 6-Trait writing. New Mexico charter schools are public schools, publicly financed and tuition-free.

Our town provides cultural and educational amenities unusual for its size because it is also home to a research university and multiple scientific facilities.

Our ideal candidate possesses an advanced degree in any area, and is willing to obtain an administrator's license. Classroom teaching experience is critical, and prior academic administrative experience is a strong plus. The seasoned candidate will already have the maturity, wisdom, and flexibility to set priorities and maintain focus on them in a demanding, diverse environment. Over the next years we will be working to finance and construct permanent buildings. The administrator will be intimately involved in this process.
