Spanish Program: K-5 students receive Spanish every day for 30 minutes. 6th grade will receive 1 hour 3 times a week; the other 2 days will be 30 minutes. A sequential program is used through the different grade levels. Multicultural education is also an integral part of our bilingual program. Volunteers: Parent involvement and volunteering is vital to the success of our children and our school, and is an important goal in our charter. We encourage parents to take an active part in the education of their children. Please remember to:
Committees: These include Accountability, Budget, Facilities, Gifted Advisory, and Fundraising. More information is available here. If you are interested in any of these committees, please contact the office and leave your name and contact information. Problems: If you feel there is a problem in your
child's classroom, please discuss
this with your child's teacher. Problems often arise from a
communication breakdown. Please see your child's teacher first. Appeals: The Governing Council is a policy-making body that ensures the school's smooth operation by hiring and empowering the most qualified staff and faculty available. The Council is normally not involved with the day-to-day operations of the school. If classroom problems cannot be resolved with either the teacher or the administrator, an appeal can be brought to the Governing Council. The most effective approach is to write a letter to the Governing Council in advance of a regular meeting. If personnel issues are to be discussed, it should be done in executive session, which is held as needed at the end of each Governing Council meeting. The Council president can explain the process to you if your appeal may require discussion in such a session.
