The CVCS Governing Council is composed of six school parent members and one community member, with one teacher representative and the school administrator as non-voting participants. The Council is charged with oversight of all school policies, activities, operations, planning, and development, in order to ensure that the terms of the CVCS Charter are fulfilled. Each council member takes responsibility for a specific school task, such as chairing one of the committees.

Most council members are elected for two-year terms. Elections are held every year for roughly half the positions.

On behalf of the Governing Council, a Parent Survey is conducted each year. Some of the results are available online.

The Governing Council awards a scholarship each year to a graduating CVCS eighth-grader. (See the Photo Gallery for winners [starting in 2006].)

Governing Council Meetings

The CVCS Governing Council holds a regular meeting at 7:00 p.m. on the second Wednesday of every month, in the CVCS multi-purpose room. In addition, special meetings may be called as needed. Beginning with the 2005-2006 school year, preliminary agendas will be posted in advance. Minutes become available for public access after approval by the Council, which is usually done at the next regular meeting.
