Congratulations to new Governing Council members Susan Lewis and Delilah Walsh, and returning members Ephraim Ford and John Benson. Their new terms will begin in June. Thank you to everyone who voted, and an especially big thank you to outgoing GC President Dennis Walsh!

Attention Families! If you have volunteered at Cottonwood this year, please be sure that you or your child's teacher have filled out the pink family volunteer hours form. Our charter organizational goals require that more than 65% of our families complete at least one volunteer activity during the 2012-2013 school year. The forms are available in the library, from Ms. Williams, or from a teacher. Thank you for all your support.

WHEN YOU'RE SHOPPING ONLINE, PLEASE REMEMBER TO GO THROUGH THE CVCS ONLINE MARKETPLACE TO BENEFIT OUR SCHOOL! When you use the marketplace links to make a purchase, CVCS will receive a donation, at no cost to you. An extensive list of merchants is available using easy-to-browse categories. Anyone can use these links, so please spread the word to friends and family. This is just one of several very easy ways for parents and friends of CVCS to help the school's fundraising efforts, with no extra cost to you; for details, please see the Fundraising Committee page. Your support is greatly appreciated!

CVCS encourages students to walk or bike to school safely. Helmets are available through Socorro County's Safe Routes to School (SRTS) program, which will also lead monthly group "bike to school" days.

Parent involvement is crucial to the success of our children and our school, and is an important goal in our charter. You can express interest in volunteering at the school by contacting your child's teacher, or by signing up for a committee or other activity in the CVCS office (now located in the new building). Each time you volunteer, e.g. with a field trip, class activity, or school event, please take a moment to complete a very simple Volunteer Hours Form and return it to the CVCS office so we know how much volunteer time we have received. Thank you!

If you haven't already signed up, or renewed, to support CVCS through the Smith's Earn-N-Learn program, please do so soon! Anyone can sign up; annual renewal is required but takes only a minute at the Smith's cash registers. The program costs you nothing, and Smith's will donate a portion of your purchases to CVCS. To date we have received over $20,000, so this is an easy and effective way to help raise money for our school. Thank you!

The next regular Governing Council meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at 5:30 p.m. Draft agendas are generally posted in advance.

The CVCS Parent Association normally meets on the first Wednesday of each month while school is in session; however, please note there will be no meetings until further notice. Notes and agenda information from some of the past Parent Association meetings are available.
